Lockheed Martin Opens Orion Test Facility At Johnson Space Center

[12-12-07 – Satellite Today] Lockheed Martin has opened a space Exploration Development Laboratory adjacent to NASA’s Johnson Space Center, Lockheed Martin announced Dec. 12.
    The 10,000-square-foot facility, funded by Lockheed Martin, United Space Alliance and Honeywell, will support NASA’s Project Orion and Constellation program. The facility is designed to reduce cost and schedule risk by providing an early opportunity to perform systems level avionics and software testing in a realistic environment in the development phase of the program.
     Orion is a next-generation human spaceflight vehicle that will transport astronauts to and from the International Space Station as well as to the moon and beyond.
