Aalyria reported $100 million in funding from its Series B financing round, placing the aerospace communications provider at a $1.3 billion valuation. Battery Ventures and J2 Ventures led the funding round, with support from DYNE and other investors.

Aalyria was founded out of Alphabet in 2022. The company said the capital would accelerate the development of Spacetime, its network orchestration platform, and Tightbeam, its optical communications terminal.

“This funding accelerates our path to becoming that ubiquitous control plane: the digital cartilage that connects thousands of independent satellites, aircraft, ships, fiber, and ground stations into a single, intelligent network that can route around failures, optimize for mission priorities, and adapt in real-time,” Aalyria CEO Chris Taylor commented.

Aalyria’s technology has been deployed on commercial missions by notable partners. In 2023, it signed a long-term agreement with Telesat to deploy Spacetime across Telesat’s Lightspeed Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) constellation. It has also collaborated with Google, NASA, Airbus, the European Space Agency, and others.

“Aalyria’s orchestration and network-optimization technologies are a key performance and resiliency enabler for our Telesat Lightspeed architecture,” Telesat CEO and President Dan Goldberg said. “Spacetime’s dynamic routing, spectrum-aware resource management, and advanced link prediction capabilities will be integrated with our system design, strengthening end-to-end service delivery across our global LEO network.”

The announcement follows a string of high-profile collaborations for the California-based company. Last month, the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory said it would evaluate Spacetime as a candidate for inclusion in its Space Data Network Experimentation program. In October, Aalyria announced a strategic partnership with terminal developer All.Space to demonstrate interoperable communications across domains for defense scenarios.
