German manufacturer Morpheus Space said it received a $15 million investment to expand production of its in-space propulsion system from a space-based venture capital firm and the European Union’s investment arm.

In a Thursday release, Morpheus Space said the strategic investment from Alpine Space Ventures, the European Investment Fund and other backers will be used to expand mass production capabilities at its mass production facility in Dresden. The facility currently produces 100 units of the company’s proprietary GO-2 electric propulsion systems, according to a July 2025 release.

“Growing orbital congestion and the race for dominance in orbit are making maneuverability a strategic necessity,” said Bulent Altan, a founding partner at Alpine Space Ventures. “What’s needed now are scalable, cost-efficient propulsion systems designed for dynamic space operations. Morpheus Space is uniquely positioned to meet this demand and solve one of the sector’s most urgent bottlenecks.”

The funding follows the GO-2 propulsion system’s successful in-orbit demonstration mission in July 2025, which Morpheus said validated several of the system’s selling points.

Lavrock Ventures, Morpheus Ventures, Pallas Ventures and Vsquared Ventures also participated in the round, alongside other new and existing funders.

Alpine Space Ventures previously led Morpheus Space’s $28 million Series A in 2022 to expand its staff and manufacturing capabilities.
