Logos Space Services, which emerged from stealth mode last year with plans for a new satellite constellation for enterprise services, raised $50 million in a Series A round, the company announced June 12.

This was a follow-on round from US Innovative Technologies (USIT), an investment firm focused on dual-use technologies led by Thomas Tull, the founder of Legendary Entertainment, which produced “The Dark Knight” and “Watchmen.” USIT, which is also an investor in Capella Space, provided initial backing to Logos Space as well.

The company plans to use the funds to hire engineering and technical staff for spacecraft, payload, and user terminal development. The company said funds will also support integration with spacecraft, government, commercial, and launch partners.

Logos Space Services is targeting a 4,178-satellite Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) constellation for “gigabit end-to-end connectivity” for government and enterprise customers, designed to be resistant to jamming and interference.

Founder and CEO Milo Medin is the former vice president of Wireless Services for Google.

“Enterprise users, not just governments, face an increasing number of sophisticated threats,” Medin said in a release. “Our LEO constellation will offer resilient, symmetric, closed user group connectivity that enterprise users need, without depending on virtual private networks.”
