Orbital Insight announced it has opened a new sales office in Tokyo, Japan. The office will meet the growing demand for Orbital Insight’s products and services throughout the Asia-Pacific region, the company stated.

According to Orbital Insight, Tokyo is a strategic choice for the company because of its role in global innovation. Asia-Pacific customers have started using geospatial analytics to serve a variety of business, environmental and humanitarian scenarios, including flood detection, commodities monitoring for oil, steel and coal, deforestation, and large-scale infrastructure projects.

Orbital Insight’s connection with Japan started with Geodesic Capital and Itochu Corporation’s participation in its Series C financing round. In late 2017, Orbital Insight announced reseller partnership agreements with ABeam Consulting, Itochu and SKY Perfect JSAT.
