Space-based interceptors will play a key role in the architecture of the Golden Dome, and more insight has come out recently into some of the teams joining together to build SBI capabilities.
The Space Force recently named 12 companies that received OTA contracts totaling up to $3.2 billion to prototype technologies for space-based interceptors including Anduril, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin, SpaceX and others.
Anduril has tapped a number of commercial space companies for its team; Rocket Lab announced it will work with Raytheon; and Firefly Aerospace subsidiary SciTec was named an awardee. The Space Force is looking for competition, including non-traditional vendors, and targeting speed – the goal is to develop a missile defense interceptor system that can demonstrate capability integrated into Golden Dome architecture by 2028.
Also in this edition, takeaways from GEOINT, a nominee for a new head of the Space Force, and a look at how the SDA is pushing startups to demonstrate results.
