The Satellite Industry Association (SIA) has commended the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for its decision to maintain spectrum in the 48.2-50.2 GHz and 40-42 GHz bands for satellite use. This high frequency millimeter wave spectrum could prove to be useful for a number of business opportunities for satellite, including supporting 5G wireless applications. The SIA sees the decision as the FCC striking a careful balance between the interests of wireless operators and satellite operators.
