[Satellite TODAY 08-15-12] Arianespace will launch the Indian Space Research Organization’s (ISRO) next communication satellite, GSAT-10, on an Ariane-5 rocket from the European spaceport in Kourou on Sept. 21, the launch company announced

ISRO said the 3,400-kilogram satellite would be used to assist aircraft navigation over Indian airspace and in adjoining areas during a minimum 15-year operational life. The satellite also will provide communication services to augment ISRO’s existing space segment.
The upcoming Ariane 5 flight will pair ISRO’s GSAT-10 with SES’ Astra 2F satellite as a co-passenger. This will be Arianespace’s fifth mission from French Guiana in 2012 with its Ariane 5 heavy-lift workhorse rocket.
