[Satellite TODAY 08-10-12] JSC Azerkosmos has signed an agreement with British insurance broker Marsh to insure Azerbaijan’s first telecommunication satellite, Azerspace-1, JSC Azerkosmos confirmed Aug. 9.

The one-year contract covers defrayal of all costs in case of any accidents that will allow JSC Azerkosmos to continue work within the Azerspace-1 satellite program.
Azerspace-1 will be delivered to the European Spaceport in Kourou late 2012 to prepare for its scheduled launch onboard an Arianespace rocket in early 2013.
Orbital Sciences is currently building Azerspace-1, which will operate from the 46 degrees East orbital slot that was leased from Malaysian satellite operator Measat.
