[Satellite TODAY 03-18-11] Telenor Satellite Broadcasting (TSB) signed a five-year agreement with NewWave Broadband to provide iDirect’s Virtual Network Operator services for its maritime customer ShipEquip, TSB announced March 15.
    TSB will use capacity on both the Thor 5 and Intelsat 10-02 satellites for coverage throughout Europe to support the contract. TSB also will provide uplink services within its European footprint. NewWave Broadband will manage and deliver VSAT satellite services to ShipEquip, serving ships and vessels in the North Sea, the Norwegian Sea and the Baltic Sea.
    “This agreement strengthens our growing partnership with ShipEquip and NewWave Broadband and further cements TSBc’s position in the Northern European maritime market. With the approval of Thor 7 we are also able to offer our customers a future growth path at 1 degree West, providing additional capacity to support the increased types of services demanded by the maritime industry,” TSB Sales Director Michael Carter said in a statement.
