[Satellite TODAY 09-14-10] European service provider Media Broadcast and Slovakian broadcast provider Towercom have renewed long-standing agreements for the supply of SES’ Astra 3A satellite transponder capacity, the companies announced Sept. 13.
Towercom will continue renting one complete satellite transponder, as well as some additional DVB-S bandwidth on Astra 3B, located at the 23.5 degrees East orbital slot. The capacity will support direct-to-home broadcasting of Towercom’s pay-TV platform Skylink, which services more than one million Czech and Slovakian subscribers. A further mission will cover signal contribution to DVB-T and cable network-headends in that area, the company said.
“We really appreciate the renewed Towercom-agreement that will ensure a continuous operating grade of our capacities at 23.5 degrees east. This long lasting cooperation significantly contributed to starting and establishing the capitalization of relevant eastern European markets via this specific satellite position,” Media Broadcast CEO Helmut Egenbauer said in a statement.
Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.
