[Satellite TODAY 03-12-10] Wavestream Corp. introduced the PowerStream 757C-i 600W C-band indoor rack-mount solid state power amplifier, the first in a line of new C-band and Ku-band products, the company announced March 10.
   The amplifier is designed as a plug-and-play replacement for traditional 750W linearized traveling wave tube amplifier solutions used in broadcast satellite communications, teleport and satellite newsgathering systems.
   “Broadcast and content operators are looking for solutions to improve their ROI by reducing energy and operating costs,” Cliff Cooke, president and CEO of Wavestream, said in a statement. “Amplifiers have often been the last component in the RF technology chain to be evaluated for efficiency or upgrade. As replacement tubes become more costly and harder to find and as energy and facility costs continue to escalate, integrating more reliable and efficient next generation solid state amplifiers makes sense.”
