[Satellite TODAY 12-04-09] Austrian public broadcaster ORF has purchased HD from SES Astra, the company announced Dec. 3.
ORF will launch its ORF2 HD platform on the Astra 1M satellite at 19.2 degrees East Dec. 5. In addition to HD, ORF will continue to broadcast both ORF1, launched in June 2008, and ORF2 in standard definition.
“With the extension of the ORF HD program, TV viewers will benefit from the highest technical quality. ORF Managing Director Michael Wagenhofer said in a statement.
