[Satellite TODAY 12-02-09]  Surrey Satellite Technology Ltd (SSTL) chairman Martin Sweeting was awarded the Faraday Medal from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) in the United Kingdon, SSTL announced Dec. 1.
    The Faraday Medal is awarded by the IET for notable scientific or industrial achievement in engineering, or for conspicuous service rendered to the advancement of science, engineering and technology. Sweeting won the award for his “outstanding contribution to the advancement of satellite technology,” according to the IET.
    The Faraday Medal was established to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first Ordinary Meeting of the Society of Telegraph Engineers.
