[Satellite TODAY 11-17-09] Asia Broadcast Satellite (ABS) and Eutelsat Communications have  partnered to co-locate Eutelsat’s Eurobird 4 satellite with the ABS-1 and ABS-1A satellites at 75 degrees East orbital slot, the companies announced Nov. 16.
    The redeployment will inject an additional eight Ku-band transponders to 75 degrees East to address markets in the Middle East, central Asia and Russia.
    Eurobird 4 will be renamed "W75/ABS-1B," with a mission to provide possible redundancy to customers until the arrival of ABS-2, which is expected in 2012.
