[Satellite TODAY 10-28-09] International Datacasting Corp. (IDC) and 3-D technology developer Sensio Technologies Inc. were selected by Mexico’s Televisa to provide 3-D broadcasting technology for the country’s first live soccer match on public television, the companies announced Oct. 28.
IDC will provide Televisa with the SFX Pro Cinema 3-D live encoders and decoders with Sensio 3-D technology on board as well as consulting and professional services. Grupo Etercom, IDC’s partner in Mexico, already has provided installation and support for the remote equipment including antennas for the event.
IDC said it was selected after it demonstrated its technology to Televisa during a preliminary trial run held in September, when the company contributed to a live soccer broadcast.
“We are getting closer to our objective of creating a worldwide network in order to be able to broadcast international 3-D events simultaneously on multiple continents," Sensio President and CEO Nicholas Routhier said in a statement.
