[Satellite TODAY 09-28-09] International Datacasting Corp. (IDC) has received its first Tiernan orders since acquiring the product line in July, IDC announced Sept. 24.
The orders, valued at over $700,000, come from customers in Vietnam, Nigeria, and India and call for Tiernan’s MPEG-2/MPEG-4 high-definition (HD) and standard-definition (SD) encoders with paired decoders and digital audio products.
The Vietnamese orders come from a national broadcaster that will use Tiernan digital satellite news gathering (DSNG) solutions to broadcast the Third Asian Indoor Games in Hanoi, in HD and SD simultaneously.
In Nigeria, Tiernan’s AVC4000-HD AVC encoders and HMR multi-format professional decoders will be used for the distribution of MPEG-4 HD video from multiple locations across the country. Each site will be able to broadcast digital MPEG-2/MPEG-4 video to any of the other sites in the network and re-distribute that video signal to surrounding locations.
Tiernan’s ABR202A professional audio broadcast receivers were selected to be deployed in India for the expansion of the All India Radio network, which provides a variety of programming throughout the country.
“The ongoing feedback we have received from our international customers and distributors, many of whom we met at the IBC trade show last week, has been positive and they are excited by the combined strength of the IDC and Tiernan product lines,” said Ron Clifton, IDC president and CEO, in a statement.
