[Satellite TODAY 09-17-09] Intelsat has signed an agreement with the Global VSAT Forum (GVF) to facilitate training for technicians engaged in deployment of state-of-the-art satellite systems, Intelsat announced Sept. 16.
Intelsat and GVF will host a 3-year program, providing free online training for its customers and access to a negotiated ‘group rate’ for GVF installer certification courses. Intelsat hopes to have 1,200 global technicians and engineers trained by 2011.
The FSS operator said the agreement is part of an industry initiative to promote an interference-free space environment.  To combat interference, Intelsat launched the Intelsat Interference Management Initiative (I3) in March 2009, which generated partnerships with 14 satellite operators, three industry groups, and several customers and equipment manufacturers.
