[Satellite TODAY 08-12-09] The JCSAT-12 satellite will be launched Aug. 22, Sky Perfect JSAT announced Aug. 11.
    The satellite will be launched by Arianespace on an Ariane 5 rocket from the Guiana Space Center in French Guiana. The Optus D3 satellite will join the JCSAT-12 spacecraft in a dual-payload mission.
    The satellite, built by Lockheed Martin has 30 Ku-band transponders and 12 C-band transponders and will cover Japan, Oceania, Asia-Pacific and Hawaii. The satellite has a planned lifetime of 15 years.
