[Satellite TODAY 08-03-09] Beyond DSL, Ten Haaft and Conrad Anderson have formed a mobile satellite broadband Internet technology partnership in the United Kingdom, the companies announced July 31.
    The partnership will use Ten Haaft’s Oyster Automatic satellite system and the Astra2Connect satellite Internet service from Eurosat. Conrad Anderson, a U.K. distributor and vehicle electronics specialist, will provide mobile broadband technology for vehicles throughout Northern or Central Europe. Oyster Internet now will be available in the United Kingdom exclusively through Conrad Anderson.
    The Oyster Internet’s service hardware (Motorised dish, control box and satellite modem) is priced at 3,499 British pounds ($5,782), with a fitting fee of 300 pounds ($495). Monthly service charges range from 17.49 pounds to 69.99 pounds ($28.90 to $115.65).
