[Satellite Today 07-28-09] The launch of DubaiSat-1 has been delayed for additional safety and security testing, the Emirates Institution for Advanced Science and Technology (EIAST) announced July 27.
    International Space Co., DubaiSat-1’s launch provider, will place the spacecraft in orbit July 29 using a Dnepr rocket. The launch had been scheduled for July 25.
    Ahmed Al Mansoori, director general of EIAST, said that the institution was being extra cautious to ensure maximum readiness. “Delays in launching procedures are not unusual and happen frequently, as it is linked to the results of the final tests undertaken by the team of scientists and experts to ensure accomplishing the process in the smoothest way possible,” he said. in a statement.
