[Satellite Today 07-24-09] Spot, a subsidiary of Globalstar, unveiled its new satellite GPS Messenger model, Spot announced July 23.

The model is 30 percent smaller and lighter than the original personal tracker and offers additional custom messaging modes. The unit combines a GPS chipset with satellite communications.

As of March 31, Spot claims it has received orders to ship more than 120,000 units and has a global network of more than 8,000 points of distribution.
