Boeing has handed over the IndoStar 2/ProtoStar 2 commercial satellite to ProtoStar after completing in-orbit tests, which confirmed the satellite’s readiness to enter service, Boeing announced June 16.
    ProtoStar said the Boeing-built 601HP satellite, launched by International Launch Services in May, will now begin providing direct-to-home broadcasting and telecommunications services to the Asia-Pacific region.
    IndoStar 2/ProtoStar 2 will provide simultaneous operation of 32 transponders that deliver high-powered S- and Ku-band communications to consumer and small-to-medium-sized business markets throughout Indonesia, India, the Philippines and Taiwan.
