[Satellite Today 06-09-09] Eutelsat is increasing the speed of its satellite broadband service, Tooway, the company announced June 8.
At the beginning of July, the speed of the Tooway consumer broadband service will increase to 3.6 megabits per second (Mbps) from 2 Mbps for no added cost. Maximum uplink speeds have also increased to 384 kilobits per second for all customers.
Tooway serves customers in more than 20 European countries including the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Switzerland and Ireland, with additional countries across Europe rolling-out over the coming months.
In 2010, Eutelsat will expand the service with additional broadband access up to 10 Mbps. These speeds will come from the launch of Ka-sat, the dedicated new satellite from Eutelsat specifically designed for broadband delivery in Europe.
