[Satellite Today 04-08-09] C-Com Satellite Systems unveiled a portable solar power system for its flyaway antennas, the company announced April 7.
The iNetVu SolarPack has been designed to operate continuously for up to five days (for eight hours a day) before needing to be recharged. The battery recharges through the use of solar panels, which can be rolled up for storage and transportation as well as from external power sources.
“A great number of our customers are located in remote areas of the world where there is no electricity, or when it is available, it is of poor quality or inconsistent. What most of these locations have are many hours of sunshine each day,” Leslie Klein, president and CEO of C-Com, said in a statement.
C-Com’s new product release comes shortly after it reported record 2008 revenues and net profit, which increased by 22.5 percent and 72.9 percent, respectively.
