[Satellite Today 03-05-09] EMS Technologies reported 2008 revenue increases of 16 percent, at $335 million, resulting in net earnings of $20.5 million, in its full-year and fourth quarter 2008 financial results released Mar. 4.
EMS’ fourth-quarter 2008 revenues were $90.4 million with net earnings of $6.8 million. Satellite communications revenues for the fourth quarter were 20 percent higher in 2008 than in 2007 with sales to OEM partners doubling as the use of Inmarsat SwiftBroadband services continued to expand, the company said.
EMS also reported that it has started shipping PDT-300i Iridium-based tracking units.
In a statement, EMS President and CEO Paul Domorski said that his company’s performance in 2008 was achieved through significant revenue growth in its satellite communications segment and strong execution on defense and space programs.
“Higher profitability in high-growth areas – satellite and defense communications – offset lower-than-planned profitability in our LXE logistics business. These results demonstrate one of EMS’s core strengths, which is a structure that offers multiple paths to success,” said Domorski.
