[Satellite Today 10-08-08] Telesat‘s Nimiq 4 satellite completed in-orbit tests and has been placed at the 82 degrees West orbital slot, manufacturer EADS Astrium announced Oct. 8.
Nimiq 4 will be used to offer high-definition TV, specialty television and foreign language programming in North America. The satellite carries 32 Ku-band and eight Ka-band transponders.
The satellite is the third Eurostar E3000 satellite delivered in orbit by Astrium to Telesat following Anik F1R in 2005 and Anik F3 in 2007.
