[Satellite Today 07-24-08] Canal Digital, the Nordic direct-to-home platform, saw an increase in revenues but a drop in overall profits and subscriber numbers for the quarter ended June 30, parent company Telenor said July 24.
In the second quarter, Canal Digital generated revenues of 1.6 billion kroner ($322.2 million) and a loss of 27 million kroner ($5.3 million). In the corresponding quarter a year ago, Canal Digital generated revenues of 1.4 billion kroner ($284.5 million).
Canal Digital also saw a fall in subscriber numbers for the second straight quarter, shedding 3,000 subscribers in the quarter. It also lost 16,000 subscribers in the first quarter this year.
