Isaac Angel Takes Over as Gilat Satellite Networks’ New Board Chairman

Isaac Angel is the new chairman of the board of Gilat Satellite Networks, the company announced March 9. Angel takes over from Dov Baharav who has stepped down and retired after being in the role for seven years.

Angel serves as chairman of the board and served as CEO at Ormat Technologies Inc., a global company delivering renewable power and energy solutions. Before his seven-year tenure as an officer and director at Ormat, Angel held executive positions at LeadCom Integrated Solutions, VeriFone, and Lipman Electronic Engineering.

“Gilat has over 30 years of impressive global expertise, a strong customer base, outstanding innovative technology and talented employees, which well-positions Gilat for profitable growth. I am confident that the board will continue to successfully guide Gilat and play a significant part in its future accomplishments,” Angel said in a statement.

Last week, Gilat announced that its fully owned subsidiary, Wavestream, marked a key milestone with a transreceiver successfully tested by Global Eagle Entertainment (Global Eagle), a major In-Flight Connectivity (IFC) provider. The IFC high-power transceiver, the Aerostream 40Ku, achieved DO-160G certification. Production units are planned to be shipped for usage in commercial aircraft, starting in the second quarter of 2021.
