African Pay-TV operator Azam TV has completed migrating its video platform from the EUTELSAT 7B to EUTELSAT 7C satellite, and also signed a multi-year extension of its contract with incremental capacity commitment. Azam said in a Wednesday announcement will use EUTELSAT 7C to distribute about 120 channels in a mix of standard and high definition across its footprint covering Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi, Kenya, and Rwanda.

EUTELSAT 7C, which is in the 7 degrees East orbital position, was launched in June 2019 by Arianespace and entered commercial service in January.

Eutelsat Deputy Regional Vice President, Sub Saharan Africa, Patrice Paquot commented on the deal: “We are honored to continue to partner with Azam, one of our anchor customers at the 7 degrees East position as it successfully expands it broadcast offer. 7 degrees East has become a new DTH hotspot for Sub-Saharan Africa and a key Pay-TV neighbourhood for Eastern Africa with some of the fastest growth rates in the region.”
