Ligado Networks and Nokia have reached a commercial agreement to work together on private networks for enterprise customers. They plan to offer enterprise customers the Nokia Digital Automation Cloud private networks solution and Ligado’s licensed spectrum.

Nokia DAC is an application platform that provides edge computing capabilities and private wireless connectivity uses both unlicensed and licensed spectrum. Ligado’s Band 24 mid-band spectrum is licensed for terrestrial deployment nationwide.

The companies announced Tuesday they expect to begin market engagement with enterprise customers early this year, in areas like utility, manufacturing, transportation, and logistics.

This follows after the companies announced a collaboration in June 2021 for Nokia to develop 5G base station radios compatible with Ligado’s L-band spectrum. The companies said that Ligado’s spectrum is supported by network infrastructure including the line of Nokia 4G/LTE and 5G base station equipment.

“We are excited about partnering with Nokia to support 4G and 5G enterprise private networks utilizing Ligado’s spectrum,” said Ligado Chief Strategy Officer Scott Wiener. “U.S. companies, particularly those operating critical infrastructure and systems, are increasingly implementing mobile private networks to assure reliability and security in their business operations.”
