Spanish satellite and telecommunications operator Hispasat and Quantis are sponsoring a new edition of the Titan Desert mountain bike race held in the Moroccan desert. Both companies are providing satellite connectivity to the more than 400 racers participating this year, as well as to the organizers of the event and to journalists covering the race. Thanks to satcom, all those participating in the race are able to connect to the internet in an area combining high mountains and desert that currently cannot be reached by other technologies, according to the companies.

Hispasat and Quantis are providing communication services for Garmin, the organizer of this sporting event, for the proper functioning of the race, Global Positioning System (GPS) localization of the racers, and satellite internet in the camps allowing the participants to be connected 24/7 with their families and immediate surroundings and to update their social media profiles so as to share their experiences with all their followers.

Furthermore, thanks to this alliance, the members of the media that follow the marathon are able to send their reports and quality pictures and videos to their publications and newsrooms. A camera has been installed at the finish line to view the outcome at the end of each stage and provide live coverage of the cyclists’ arrival.
