[Via Satellite 08-26-2014] Global Mexican airline Aeromexico has signed a definitive agreement with Gogo for the company’s new 2Ku In Flight Connectivity (IFC) solution. The new agreement solidifies discussions from December 2013, where the principal terms and conditions were established. Gogo will connected a minimum of 20 of Aeromexico’s Boeing 737 aircraft and will provide IFC for at least 58 total Boeing 737 and Embraer aircraft.

The agreement makes Aeromexico the first airline to commit to 2Ku. Gogo aims to provide peak speeds of more than 70 Mbps at launch, climbing to more than 100 Mbps to the aircraft when next generation satellites become available. The company has an exclusive agreement with Thinkom for the antennas, which have improved spectral efficiency and are designed to effectively mitigate service issues from operating at high skew angles. Gogo anticipates Aeromexico will have access to 2Ku and Gogo Vision by the fourth quarter of 2015.
