[Via Satellite 02-07-2014] Singapore Technologies Electronics (ST Electronics) has announced that its subsidiary, STEE-SatComS, has partnered with Satrec Initiative Company, SPOT Asia and Antrix Corporation Limited for the launch and distribution of imagery from its Earth observation satellite TeLEOS 1.

The TeLEOS 1 is Singapore’s first commercial Earth observation satellite, equipped with an electro-optical camera that is capable of taking images at ground resolution of one meter. The satellite will be used for disaster and environment monitoring, maritime safety, urban planning and homeland security.

India-based Antrix has agreed to launch the satellite into a near equatorial orbit with the Indian Space Research Organization’s (ISRO) Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV).

Satrec and SPOT Asia will assist with the distribution of imagery from the satellite, which is expected to be commercially available in 2016. Images from the TeLEOS 1 will complement those from SSO satellites, benefitting end users around the globe.

ST Electronics has also partnered with ATK for the development, manufacturing and supply of microsatellites and integration services to the world market. The companies will develop the A150S/SS150 microsatellite that will allow the system to meet demand from both government and commercial space customers.
