[Via Satellite 02-07-2014] Airbus Defence and Space, formerly Astrium, has expanded its Ku-band satellite services with the Terralink Companion Quick Deploy (QD) solution. This 1.2-meter VSAT system delivers cost-effective, semi-mobile VSAT services.

The system can be set up in less than 15 minutes, and offers applications such as Internet, file transfer and voice calling through both wired and wireless networks. The Terralink Companion QD also features short-notice service activation, which allows the device to be online anywhere in the world with speeds of up to 1.5 Mbps. The system is based on a pay-per-use service, allowing users to pay a flat fee with unlimited broadband data and only be charged for the time it is activated.

“With this new service we provide customers with ad-hoc mobility for VSAT solutions, enabling them to access the Internet or VPN from virtually anywhere at broadband speeds,” said Danny Côté, head of business communications enterprises.
