[Via Satellite 01-30-2014] Boatracs, Kannad, McMurdo, and Techno-Sciences have combined to form a single-vendor provider of end-to-end, life-saving and tracking solution such as satellite connectivity infrastructure and emergency response management. McMurdo Group, created from Orolia’s former Positioning, Tracking and Monitoring Division, will assist in end-to-end search and rescue (SAR) and maritime domain awareness (MDA) solutions.

“The formation of McMurdo Group is an opportunity to lead, simplify and educate a fragmented, complex market with a unified strategy and an expansive solutions offering unparalleled in the industry today,” said Jean-Yves Courtois, CEO of McMurdo Group.

McMurdo Group combines 140 years of experience in emergency preparedness, vessel management and rescue operations, and will focus on three main areas: SAS, MDA and technology partner solutions. Goals include improving the rescue chain to expedite recovery times, driving convergence of vessel management and integrating technology, componentry and software platforms into third-party solutions to extend SAR and MDA systems into new markets.
