[Satellite Today 06-23-09] Sea Launch placed the Measat-3a satellite in orbit June 21 using a Zenit-3SLB Land Launch vehicle for Measat Satellite Systems, Sea Launch announced June 22.
Measat-3a, built by Orbital Sciences and developed with Intelsat, is set for a final orbital position at 91.5 degrees East orbital slot, where it will provide an additional 24 transponders and expand Measat’s direct-to-home, broadcasting and telecommunications capacity by 50 percent in Malaysia, the Asia-Pacific region and Africa.
In-orbit testing of the satellite is expected to run through July.
