The AFP newswire reported India is planning on launching a satellite that will be used exclusively for health care so patients and doctors in rural and remote areas can remain in contact with specialists in cities that they otherwise would not have access to. The satellite, dubbed Healthsat, is expected to be launched in four years, an official from the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) was quoted as saying. The cost of the project was not reported, but the article cites officials as saying ISRO may consider private funds to help finance the project.
