Spanish fixed satellite service (FSS) operator Hispasat expects to see very little, if any, revenue growth in 2003. The operator, which targets Portuguese and Spanish speaking markets in Europe and Latin America, could be in for a tough year. Hispasat CEO Jacinto Garcia Palacios told SATELLITE TODAY: “In 2003, we expect to generate over 100 million euros ($107.5 million) for the whole group. We will be in line with the revenues we achieved in 2002. If anything, the revenues will be slightly lower because of the market conditions.”

Hispasat plans to launch its Amazonas communications satellite in June of next year. This satellite will provide a complete range of telecommunication services to Brazil and the rest of the Americas. It will have 32 Ku-band transponders, while 19 will operate in the C-band.

An exclusive in-depth interview with Jacinto Garcia Palacios can be found in the April 9 issue of Interspace. For more information about subscribing to PBI Media’s satellite newsletters, check out our Web site at https://www.satellitetoday.com.
