U.S. satcom terminal manufacturer Lite Coms is now selling its Lite Sat 1.3A terminal in a validated remote-terminal configuration for SES O3b mPOWER Sovereign Services and Hybrid Sovereign Gateway architectures. The new version of the terminal will be paired with the SES Government Technology Certification (GTC) Type 2-certified Comtech SLM-5650B modem.
Lite Sat 1.3A is a lightweight VSAT terminal for high-throughput communications across X-, Ku-, and Ka- band networks. Lite Coms designed the terminal to support defense applications for forward-deployed teams, mobile command units, and austere environments.
SES certification makes the Lite Sat 1.3A terminal interoperable with the SES Ecosystem, most notably with SES’s high-throughput Medium-Earth Orbit (MEO) communications network O3b mPOWER. The addition of Comtech’s Wideband Global Satcom (WGS)-certified SLM-5650B modem allows it to serve a broader range of military end-users.
“The certification of our Lite Sat 1.3A in this terminal-modem configuration gives our government and military customers a validated, low-risk path to sovereign MEO connectivity through the SES O3b mPOWER ecosystem,” Lite Coms CEO Robert Jacobson said in the announcement.
Comtech’s SLM-5650B modem recieved certification to operate with SES’s O3b mPOWER constellation in September of last year.
