Intellian has released a new terminal for Iridium’s GMDSS maritime safety service, based on the Iridium Certus 100 service.
The terminal, announced Thursday, is used with the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) service, a safety of life system that helps rescue mariners in emergency situations while at sea. Iridium has provided a GMDSS service since 2020.
Intellian said with this launch, it is the only manufacturer to offer a dedicated terminal for every service tier of Iridium Certus. The terminal provides full distress alert, safety voice, maritime safety information, ship security alert system, and long-range identification and tracking (LRIT)
The CM100 GMDSS is designed to be easy and compact to install, by combining the below deck unit and the user terminal into a single safety control unit. Intellian also noted it can be reused with a vessel’s existing legacy GMDSS antenna cable if it is in good condition.
“With the launch of the C100M GMDSS System, we now offer the industry’s most extensive portfolio of Iridium GMDSS Systems, with a tailored solution for every vessel size and requirement,” said Eric Sung, CEO of Intellian Technologies. “This compact, all-in-one terminal offers mariners a seamless, modern upgrade path from legacy safety networks, ensuring vital, global connectivity when it matters most.”
