IBM, Cloud Constellation Look at the Evolution of Data Storage Architectures

As worldwide security growth moves to more than $96 billion in 2018, research firm Gartner is predicting an increase of 8 percent from 2017 for cybersecurity investment. Organizations are spending more on security as a result of regulations, shifting buyer mindset, awareness of emerging threats, and the evolution to a digital business strategy.

Responding to this need, Cloud Constellation has released a joint white paper with IBM detailing how data storage architectures are evolving beyond on-premises and classic cloud to become more secure by moving data assets into space.

One of the new paradigms for security that is emerging is Cloud Constellation’s SpaceBelt, a Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite network to securely store and manage data. According to the company, the data storage platform provides ultra-secure sovereign data storage and retrieval from most locations around the globe. IBM, with its cloud architecture, will work with SpaceBelt to provide another dimension to its cloud strategy.

“SpaceBelt aims to align with IBM and others to deliver an ultimate data security solution, as we construct our constellation of satellites and ground facilities to begin service in 2020,” said Cloud Constellation Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Cliff Beek.
