Hughes Defense Systems has subcontracted GetSAT’s MilliSAT L/W terminal as the beyond line of sight (BLOS) SatCom component for the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) Airborne Communications network, supporting Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, Humanitarian Aid, Search and Rescue, and Disaster Relief (DR) Missions.

GetSAT’s L/W platforms are designed for airborne and UAV platforms and are available in both Ka- and Ku-Band variations. Based on built-in InterFLAT panel technology, L/W terminals also feature various antenna sizes to meet SWaP and bandwidth requirements of demanding aviation platforms.

Hughes, acting as the U.S. Coast Guard’s systems integrator, selected GetSAT’s lightweight terminal from many competing options. “We have worked with GetSAT for over three years now and found their COTM terminals to be smaller, lighter, higher performing and well suited for demanding environments such as the USCG C-27 aircraft,” Hughes Defense Systems Vice President and General Manager Rick Lober said in a statement.
