Hughes Network Systems is now accepting orders for its 9450-C11 BGAN land mobile satellite terminal for operation over Inmarsat‘s BGAN satellite service.
The Hughes 9450-C11 aims to provide high performance, mobile satellite connectivity for demanding environments at budget-friendly cost. The 9450-C11 is being targeted to global relief work organizations (NGOs), government, first responders, public safety, mobile healthcare, and remote mobile fleet personnel in industries such as utility, oil and gas, forestry, cable, and telecommunications.
In a statement, Hughes Vice President and General Manager of Mobile Products Graham Avis called the product a “game changer” for target customers. “The Hughes 9450-C11 sets a commanding new level of capabilities in the land mobile satellite market … delivering high performance and more features such as integrated Wi-Fi, in a smaller and superior package. Users can collaborate reliably and efficiently using video, voice, and data simultaneously. The terminal also is IP-based and offers selectable, dedicated quality of service levels.”
Hughes will begin shipping the product in December.
