This week during the NATO Summit Defence Industry Forum in Ankara, Turkey, a group of eight allies announced plans for a hybrid satellite constellation for high-speed communications, intelligence, and missile tracking.
Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and Türkiye announced HALO, which stands for Hybrid Alliance Layered Operations in Space. The constellation is planned to integrate sovereign military satellites into a “networked mega constellation,” NATO said.
Also in this edition, Boeing recently received a $2 billion contract for the next two Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) satellites.
