Video: SES CEO Reflects Post Microsoft Deal on Via TV

Days after SES announced its groundbreaking deal with Microsoft, Via Satellite caught up with SES CEO Steve Collar at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) 2019 in Amsterdam.

Collar had spoken on a panel with the CEOs of Intelsat, Telesat, Eutelsat, and Viasat at World Satellite Business Week (WSBW) about a number of issues ranging from 5G, and the future of video, to how operators like SES will grow revenues moving forward, as it looks to diversify its revenue base.

A few years ago, it perhaps might have seemed inconceivable that SES would generate more revenues from data than video, but that point appears to be fast approaching. In this interview, Collar reflects on a lively debate in Paris, talks of the future for SES, and how the industry is shaping up as we head into 2020.
