SATELLITE Attendees Take the Pulse of the Industry on the Show Floor

Despite concerns surrounding COVID-19 that tempered the presence of some exhibitor booths, SATELLITE 2020 conference-goers exuded enthusiasm and excitement around sessions and networking opportunities.

Scott Sanders of Envistacom called seeing Elon Musk memorable: “I liked the way he simplified things. Plug in, point to sky. In satellite, it’s got to be simple.”

Hughes SVP Ramesh Ramaswamy expressed excitement over his company’s new global distribution agreement with OneWeb: “We will market OneWeb services around the world for applications such as enterprise and government networking, cellular backhaul, and community Wi-Fi hotspots.”

Phasor CEO David Helfgott said: “I would say this year’s show is lower traffic but higher-quality meetings. It’s always good to talk to your peers and see what everyone is doing.”

QuadSAT CEO Joakim Espeland debuted as a first-time exhibitor: the Denmark company’s booth displayed photos of drones illustrating its mission to “combine a simulated satellite payload with drone tech to create a brand new way to test satellite antennas.”

ThinKom CTO Bill Milroy said SATELLITE continues to offer “a unique opportunity to converge and converse with his entire spectrum of customers, partners, and suppliers … a great way for us to assess, in person, the pulse and trends across our industry.” VS
