[Via Satellite 06-02-2014] ViaSat is set to launch a new worldwide network service for the Machine-to-Machine (M2M) market, following agreements made earlier in May with Thuraya and LightSquared. The L-band managed service will feature a new waveform that draws upon ViaSat’s experience serving customers in the United States government sector who require highly secure, reliable and rugged satellite-based global services.

The service is expected to lower the cost of ownership for M2M networking through a range of technologies for Mobile Satellite Services (MSS), and is set to target customers in the energy, utilities, logistics and enterprise sectors.
