SATELLITE 2023 — taking place March 13–16 in Washington, D.C. — will be the largest and most comprehensive program in the show’s 41-year history, with more than 13,000 global attendees and 350+ exhibitors.
The dominant theme of the Executive Forum is the convergence of satellite and terrestrial cellular networks. The terrestrial wireless community has reached a “realization that it cannot expand on its long-term business plans in the 5G era without the help of satellite services.” A majority of Executive Forum sessions focus on telecoms, mobile wireless, and reaching the billions of unconnected people globally.
The Tech Forum focuses on software-driven technologies and computing power in space — software now dominates both the space and ground segments. It also features the return of the CTO Forum and sessions on cybersecurity, optical communications, and interference prevention.
The Government & Military Forum explores the Russian invasion of Ukraine as a case study for satellite imagery intelligence and broadband in a combat zone. The LEO & Smallsat Forum covers constellation performance, the smallsat supply chain, and regulatory policy.
Tuesday’s opening general session features a keynote from Amazon SVP David Limp on Project Kuiper, and a CEO panel including Eutelsat, Globalstar, Intelsat, Relativity Space, and Viasat. Wednesday opens with SES CEO Steve Collar followed by a “Future Space Economy” session with Rocket Lab, Orbit Fab, Redwire, Lockheed Martin, SpiderOak, and Northrop Grumman. The SGx young professionals program expands to two days for the first time. Startup Space returns with 10 entrepreneurs pitching to top space investors. VS
