Eight New Faces at SATELLITE 2022

SATELLITE 2022 highlights fresh voices across the satellite industry. Here are eight first-time SATELLITE speakers to watch.

Eva Berneke, Eutelsat CEO — Eutelsat’s first female CEO, joining from KMD (an NEC Group IT company in Denmark), was chosen to lead Eutelsat’s transition toward connectivity because of her telecoms and technology experience. She speaks at the Euroconsult operators panel alongside SES, Viasat, and SpaceX.

Bulent Altan, CEO of Mynaric — Former SpaceX VP and one of its first employees, Altan leads Mynaric, a German laser communication terminal company. Mynaric brought on SpaceLink, Cloud Constellation, Capella Space, Northrop Grumman, and DARPA as customers. He joins Derek Tournear of the Space Development Agency and others on the laser panel.

Sarah Schellpfeffer, CTO of Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector — Schellpfeffer brings her perspective from a major aerospace prime to the opening general session, “A Defining Era for the Satellite Industry,” alongside constellation, terminal, and laser communications executives.

Neil McRae, chief architect of BT Group — McRae leads BT’s architecture and 5G strategy, and BT joined OneWeb’s distribution partner program. He appears on the mobile satellite connectivity panel alongside Thuraya, Globalstar, and Swarm Technologies.

Negar Feher, VP of Business Development for Momentus — After 18 years as an aerospace engineer at Lockheed Martin and Maxar, Feher joined space infrastructure startup Momentus. She speaks as part of the new Inclusive Innovation DEI program produced with Space Frontier Foundation.

Monica Gangwar, DEI partner at Virgin Orbit — Gangwar has worked at LinkedIn, the Cleveland Clinic, and the Peace Corps, and has been with Virgin Orbit for more than two years. She will discuss DEI work culture challenges specific to the commercial space industry.

Terence Craig, CIO for The Impact Seat — A VC expert who was among the earliest Black CEOs to raise venture capital, Craig brings experience from Toyota Ventures and Astia Angels. He judges Startup Space alongside SpaceFund, DCVC, and MaC Venture Capital.

Dr. Agostinho Linhares, Anatel spectrum manager — Brazil’s lead for WRC-23 preparations and head of its WRC-15 and WRC-19 delegations. He speaks on the session “Driving Space Innovation Through the WRC-23 Agenda,” produced with GSOA. VS
